You bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are liable for diminished value only where it results from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.

The right of withdrawal does not apply where a statutory exception applies, in particular to goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised. A PC assembled from standard selectable components is not treated as excluded automatically; the legal requirements must be met in the individual case.
